The official responsible for charity and prison pastoral deva in Rome has described how the pontiff gave a massive sum from his personal account.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot welcomed the sanctions, describing Iran’s actions as a “state policy” of hostage taking.

The move comes as part of Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin’s crackdown on the drug trade.

“Everyone who is in the occupied territories is a hostage of the Russian regime,” Ukrainian journalist and human rights activist Maksym Butkevych, who spent over two years in Russian captivity, told Euronews.

The Palestinians were released on Saturday afternoon in exchange for three Israeli civilian hostages whose gaunt appearances caused widespread condemnation.

Final votes are still being counted and the result isn’t expected to be released until later on Monday morning but state television predict Lukashenko winning with almost 88% of the vote.

According to a list provided by the Palestinian Authority’s Commission for Prisoners’ Affairs all of those released are women or minors.

Both men were named by activists and exiles as taking part in the execution of thousands of political prisoners in 1988 on the orders of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
